About BBBE Central and our editorial policy

What BBBE Central covers, how we handle health-benefit evidence, how articles are commissioned and reviewed, and how commercial relationships are disclosed.

BBBE Central is a publication about carnivore and ketogenic eating: what the evidence supports, what it does not, and how to run either in practice without wasting money or guessing. The Beef, Bacon, Butter and Eggs elimination protocol is covered in full as one method within that, a deliberately narrow one, and the place most people start when they are trying to isolate what a food is doing to them.

We write for people who are already curious and are now deciding what to actually do, not for people looking to be sold a diet.

What we cover

  • Evidence and mechanisms. Trials, metabolic markers, mechanistic work, and the parts where the evidence is thin or contested. Every mechanism or outcome claim is tied to a cited primary source.
  • Protocols and methods. Ketogenic, carnivore, and the BBBE elimination sequence: how each is run, what it is for, and which one to start with.
  • Sourcing and logistics. Buying meat and fat in bulk, cost per gram of protein, storage, and what actually survives a freezer.
  • Troubleshooting. Adaptation, cramps, sleep, digestion and energy dips, and what they usually mean.
  • Tools and reference. Scales, ketone and glucose meters, trackers, and the tables worth printing.

Where we draw the line on health claims

We report what research and clinical practice show about metabolic health, body composition, satiety, glycaemic control and nutrient intake, including where the findings are promising and where they are preliminary. We do not claim that any diet prevents, treats, reverses or cures a disease, and we do not present personal accounts as proof of an outcome. Where a health benefit can lawfully be claimed, we phrase it as the law requires: nutrient content, a substantiated structure or function effect, or an explicitly labelled anecdote. Everything else is reported as evidence with its limitations attached.

If you have a diagnosed condition, the relevant guide tells you to discuss it with a clinician rather than to self-experiment from a web page.

Who we are

BBBE Central was founded by Nick Shipway, who writes the sourcing and cost guides. Reference material and tooling are maintained by the editorial team. Safety, contraindication and protocol mechanics pages are reviewed by a registered healthcare professional before publication; the reviewer is named on the page.

Every article carries a named author and a last-updated date. We do not publish under invented names, and we do not attribute content to a person who has not read it.

How articles are made

  1. A guide is written against the content policy, with every mechanism or outcome claim tied to a cited primary source.
  2. It passes an automated claims check that fails any draft using prescriptive medical language, unauthorised health claims, anecdote-as-evidence or outcome testimonials.
  3. A human editor reads the rendered page and either approves it or sends it back.
  4. It is published, dated, and the revision stays in public history.

The named author on the page is accountable for what it says. Corrections are logged on the page rather than quietly edited.

Commercial disclosure

BBBE Central is reader-supported. Where a guide links to a product we may receive a commission. Commercial relationships never determine a recommendation: anything we link must first appear in a guide that would have been published without it. Affiliate sections are labelled before the first link, not after, in line with ASA requirements on advertisement features.

We do not accept payment for favourable coverage, and we do not publish sponsored articles that carry health claims.

What we are not

We are not a clinical service and we do not give medical advice. Nothing here diagnoses, treats or cures anything; protocols are documented as self-tracking practice, and the evidence is reported rather than promised. Read the exclusions page before starting.

Contact and corrections

Corrections, factual challenges and source suggestions are welcome and are logged. If you believe a page is wrong, tell us what it says, what it should say, and the source that settles it.
